Christmas in Arlington

Christmas in Arlington is a community-driven holiday event organized by the Arlington Aream Chamber of Commerce. The event brings together local businesses, families, and visitors through festive activities, contests, and a “Shop Local” passport program designed to support small businesses during the holiday season.
The project included designing and launching a single-page event website along with key print assets such as a business passport booklet and promotional flyer. The goal was to clearly communicate event details, encourage community participation, and create a cohesive holiday experience both online and offline.

  2. Encourage local shopping through the Business Passport Program
  3. Promote contests, volunteer opportunities, and community involvement
  4. Deliver festive, print-ready materials that aligned with the event branding
  5. Launch everything on a tight timeline ahead of the holiday season

The focus was on simplicity, clarity, and accessibility for all age groups.

Christmas in Arlington was designed for a broad audience, including:

  1. Local families attending holiday activities
  2. Residents and visitors looking for seasonal events

Project Challenges

One of the biggest challenges was the tight timeline. The event required a fast turnaround while still delivering polished, professional results.
Additional challenges included:

  1. Condensing a large amount of information into a single-page scrolling website withoutoverwhelming users
  2. Designing print assets that were both visually festive and functionally correct forbooklet printing
  3. Ensuring the Business Passport Program instructions were extremely clear to avoid confusion
  4. Maintaining consistency across digital and print materials

Careful planning and clear information hierarchy were essential to overcoming these challenges.

Solution & Approach

To address these challenges, the project was approached in three focused phases:

Website

A clean, single-page scrolling website was created with clearly defined sections, including:

  1. Hero and welcome section with clear calls to action
  2. Event schedule and key dates
  3. Contests and awards
  4. Business Passport Program explanation
  5. Volunteer opportunities
  6. Sponsor recognition
  7. Contact and location details

The navigation allows users to smoothly scroll to each section, making the site simple and intuitive.

Business Passport Booklet

The passport booklet was designed as a half-letter (5.5 × 8.5) folded booklet, optimized for:

  1. Easy printing with no trimming required
  2. Clear stamp and receipt tracking
  3. Simple step-by-step instructions
  4. A festive but readable design

Special attention was given to proper booklet layout so businesses could print and distribute it easily.

Flyer

A one-page flyer was created to explain the passport program at a glance. The flyer was designed for placement at local businesses and included:

  1. Clear steps to participate
  2. Prize details
  3. Deadlines and drop-off locations
  4. A strong call to action to encourage participation

Results & Impact

The final outcome was a cohesive holiday experience across digital and print platforms.
Key results:

  1. A clear, easy-to-navigate event website that centralized all event information
  2. Print-ready assets that local businesses could immediately use
  3. Improved clarity around the Business Passport Program, increasing participation potential
  4. A consistent festive look and feel across all materials

The project successfully supported the Chamber’s mission of bringing the community together while encouraging local shopping during the holiday season.
